Sponsoring

I am paying for all my expenses for this journey with my own money, but have been pleasantly surprised by people offering charity sponsorship. In response I have set up the following for people to choose from 3 organisations: Wythenshawe Food Bank*; Bristol Volunteers for Development Abroad The John Muir Trust

1) Donate to: Wythenshaw Food Bank*
Real Foods Wythenshawe runs a number of community-based projects to engage people in growing, cooking & learning about food. I have been volunteering at a number of these, since July 2017, including working at the Wythenshawe Food Bank warehouse. While donations of food are always welcome, cash is needed to buy things that are in short supply, not donated or perishable. If you ever wondered what you should donate instead of beans & soup: the answer is tins of potatoes, tea, coffee (in smaller jars) & milk.

Received so far: £20 in cash from Ita & Pam (the two people on right of photo)

*We are still waiting for the necessary paperwork from HMRC to register this charity on MyDonate. When processed I will set up a sponsorship page.

2) Donate to: Bristol Volunteers for Development Abroad - My daughter Rowena's sponsorship page. She will work for about 6 weeks with the Nancholi Youth Programme in Malawi during summer 2018.

3) Donate to : The John Muir Trust
This charity's objective is to preserve wild spaces in the UK for future generations to enjoy. John Muir, emigrated from Scotland to the USA in 1849 and was influential in establishing Yosemite National Park. The Bottom to Top route featured in this blog includes a section of the 2016-dedicated John Muir Way: between Linlithgow & Drymen. Not to be confused with the John Muir trail that starts in Yosemite, of which I walked a short stretch in 2014.

Thank you for your gifts
